Bangtao Beach: history vs. today
Bang Tao beach is one of the places to visit in Phuket, and is one of longest stretches of sand on the island’s west coast. Six kilometers long, it is located about half way between famous Patong and the international airport. Bangtao used to be a tin mining site that has since developed into a family-friendly place featuring high-end resorts and beach clubs, as well as laid-back local establishments.
Due to its size, the beach is versatile in character. Its southern end is the busiest, yet never overcrowded with tourists; the northern end, called Layan Beach, is mainly serene and unspoiled. The middle, a luxurious self-contained area known as Laguna, boasts five high-end resorts; guests who like staying at the beach without the high price mark opt for one of the hotels at the southern side of the bay.
Four beach clubs that offer you special adventures
Currently Bangtao is home to four beach clubs: Blue Siam, Bliss, Xana, and Dream. They are quite different from one another, carrying distinct vibes and hosting a myriad of events. Some are more relaxed and family-oriented, and others are places to be seen and successful party venues.
In terms of activities, Bangtao Beach offers something for every taste. Swimming in the high season is nothing short of spectacular, with warm and calm crystal-clear waters to delight in. While low season brings an opportunity to take up surf lessons, during dry periods visitors can enjoy Stand Up Paddle Boarding, jet skiing and horseback riding. This is also a good spot for diving in Phuket.
Charming and multi-faceted, this is a beach that warmly welcomes travelers from all walks of life, inviting them to relish a piece of paradise called Phuket, if only for a while.
